Four Star Wire & Cable are excited to announce that we are settled into our brand new facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan Designed from the ground up, we would like to invite you to come and visit the new home of Four Star Wire & Cable Headquarters. The new warehouse space has been increased to accommodate even more product to serve our customers. It has also been designed to streamline the steps needed to process and deliver your orders. Our customers should not see much of a change from the systems that we proudly have in place, but the hard working people that get your orders out everyday will certainly welcome them. From the ordering, to the building of custom products, to the shipping of your order, the entire layout of the new building is yet another step toward positive growth for Four Star Wire & Cable with you the customer in mind. One of those questions that is beginning to pop up more and more often is, "do I really need a UL listed mark?" A lot of you are out in the trenches doing installations and getting a spec that requires you to use only UL listed materials. The reality is that this mark is only one of the options for tested materials. Regardless of whether the material has the UL or ETL mark, it means that it has been independently tested by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). The NRTL program is part of OSHA's directive to ensure that products are safe. With that said, any OSHA recognized NRTL can provide product safety testing and certification. While most products that require this type of testing are done so with the Underwriters Laboratory mark, there has been a mild shift and awareness of the alternatives. Some manufacturers are even offering both the UL and ETL labels for their products just to cover all of the bases. Certainly this doesn't change anything if your client is demanding one or the other certification, but it should help if you are armed with some of this information. Moral of the story? As long as the product meets all necessary criteria for the product safety standards and testing has been done by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, it is a viable and safe product for the market. As a distributor, Four Star has no vested interest in which of these certifications a particular product has, but we will continue to only stock the best products that fit the needs of our customers. As always, we will be happy to accommodate you in any need that you may require.
